What should you look for when buying a watch? How can you tell a fast fashion, throw-away from a long lasting, quality product?
Buying online, it can be hard to tell what you're going to get.
Look for the following materials from an online purchase, and if shopping in person, look for telltale signs of lower quality like plastic spacers in the dial, visible dust or smudges under the crystal, uneven finishing, or a suspiciously light weight.
The 'window' to your watch.
As opposed to mineral crystal, which can scratch when bumped or scraped, our sapphire crystal is virtually indestructible (and is therefore the gold standard today for watch makers.)
We use a Ronda quartz movement in our watches. Swiss movement makers are highly regarded for their quality and reliability, and generally use less plastic than their cheaper counterparts.
10X thicker (and therefore more durable) than standard plating, our rose gold is applied using a zero waste dry plating process that eliminates air emissions, wastewater and hazardous wastes associated with traditional plating techniques.
Full grain leather is the highest quality grade of leather. It comes from the top layer of the hide with the entire grain intact. It is more expensive for manufacturers to buy and more difficult to work with but is extremely strong and durable. As it ages, rather than wearing out, full grain leather becomes more beautiful.
Vegetable tanned hides are soaked for up to 6 weeks in vegetable tannins and other biodegradable components. Rich in character and more durable than any chemically tanned leather goods, vegetable tanned leather is by far the most environmentally friendly leather option.
Our leather breaks in easily, and softens and ages beautifully.
We use 100% post consumer recycled PET (RePET) for our NATO straps, giving a second life to a material that’s not biodegradable and would otherwise end up in landfill or the ocean.
Our packaging is made from 100% recycled and recyclable craft paper and board, including the inner tray. Eco friendly ink is used for any printing.
We have minimised the size of the boxes as well as ink used in printing to further reduce our packaging footprint.
